Patrick has 20 years of experience in estate and trust planning and administration. He earned his BA from LaGrange College and his MA from the University of Southern Mississippi before undertaking postgraduate studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he also worked for two seasons on the directorial staff of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. He is an Anglican priest and is well-versed in Canon Law, serving as Chancellor of a major Anglican jurisdiction in addition to being the Abbot of a religious order.

After spending several years teaching in the public schools in Colorado and North Carolina, Patrick entered the Paralegal program at Queens College in Charlotte (under the American Institute of Paralegal Studies). Upon completing the program he joined the Estates Division of the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court as Deputy Clerk, where he worked extensively with attorneys, paralegals, and the general public in all aspects of estates and probate matters. Patrick was also one of two Deputy Clerks handling Involuntary Commitments. Upon leaving the courthouse in 2004 he was the Senior Auditor in the Estates Division. Since then he has worked with several law firms specializing in estates and trusts.

Patrick has been active for over 40 years in the Scottish-American community and has just finished two terms as President of the Clan Maclean Association in the United States. He is currently serving as President of the Clan Maclean International Association.
